Book Club

  • Advisor: Mrs. Simon
  • Start: Once a month during Cardinal Time
  • Who can participate? Grades 9-12, can join at any time during the year & students do not have to come to every meeting.

Each month the club reads a new selection and then meets to discuss the book. Books are chosen from student and staff suggestions. We read popular titles and new releases. Most of the books chosen are Young Adult fiction; occasionally we read adult titles and non-fiction. Book club members also participate in special events like author visits, lunch meetings and movie screenings. There is no cost to join Book Club.


Dungeons & Dragons

  • Advisor: Mr. Jason Canfield 
  • Start: TBD
  • Who can participate? Grades 9-12.

Played Dungeons & Dragons before? New to the game? Come and form an adventuring party who will explore fantasy worlds together as they embark on epic quests. 


Speech

  • Advisor: Mrs. Pasiuk
  • Start: Mid-November
  • State: Second or third weekend of April
  • Who can participate? Grades 9-12
  • Fee: Subject to Co-Curricular Activity Fee ($)

The Speech Team travels to area high schools to compete. There are a total of sixteen categories ranging from oral interpretation to acting to public speaking. As part of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech and Dramatic Arts Association, the team has two goals: To provide a significant training ground for the development of students’ abilities in public speaking and in the oral interpretation of literature and to provide multiple opportunities for students to practice and share their skill development. One or two organizational meetings will be held in November after school. Practices will be held once a week beginning in December and last through the competitive season. Each practice lasts a half hour and will be set up with one of the coaches. We can and will work around schedules of other activities. Competitions are held on Saturdays beginning the first week in February and lasting through March. Sub district and District competitions are usually held in March and the State Speech tournament is held in April.


National History Day

  • Who can participate? Any student with a strong interest in history or research may join
  • Fee: Subject to Co-Curricular Activity Fee ($)

National History Day is a national research-based history competition. There are several categories in which students can compete, including a museum-type exhibit, a web page, a documentary, a research paper, and a historical performance. Students pick a topic that pertains to the annual theme, conduct extensive research on their topic, and present their findings in one of the project formats. Students may participate individually or a as part of a group of up to five members. Students meet on their own time the majority of the time with several scheduled meeting before and after school. 


National Honor Society (NHS)

  • Advisor: Mr. Bisson
  • Apply: Spring as sophomores and juniors
  • Start: Beginning of the following school year
  • Who can participate? Grades 11-12, with GPA of 3.5+ and a minimum of 25 hours of community service during high school

N.H.S. is an organization that is centered on service, leadership, character and academics. Students (sophomores or juniors) apply in the spring for induction – a committee of teachers reads the application and recommends new members. The group is active in volunteering, including organizing the high school blood drive, Coaches vs. Cancer, and Toys for Tots.

Ski & Snowboard Club

  • Advisor: Mrs. Peterson (ppeters2@prescott.k12.wi.us)
  • Start: January
  • End: Final Ski Day (February or March)
  • Who can participate? Grades 6-12
  • Fee: Yes ($)

Sponsored through the Community Education Program, Ski Club is an opportunity for young people to ski and socialize together in a positive manner. Four ski trips are scheduled to Afton Alps. The bus leaves from the high school at 4:00 PM and returns at 10:00 PM. 


Student Council

  • Advisor: Mr. Jeff Ryan
  • Start: Beginning of the school year for Grades 9-12;
  • End: End of the school year
  • Who can participate? Grades 9-12

Student council members are responsible to plan activities for special weeks and improving school spirit; students will help with any incentive programs. Council members need to be the voice for their class. There will be a student government side that runs the meetings as well as addressing student issues and presenting them to administration. To apply, candidates must have 20 signatures from the student body and 3 teacher recommendations in support of them being on student council.


Writer's Block

  • Advisor: Mrs. Simon
  • Start: Two Wednesdays a month
  • Who can participate? Grades 9-12 can join at any time during the year and students do not have to come to every meeting

Writer’s Block is for students who are interested in sharing their writings with others. Members meet to listen, discuss, and edit. Also, members have access to the Writer’s Block Blog where they can share ideas and find information on writing. You will participate in special events like author visits and lunch meetings.
