The PCR Director works directly with the Athletic Director to coordinate the use of all school district facilities.
There is a hierarchy set up in the use of facilities. Generally, all school sports and extracurricular activities will take precedence before any other outside activity. From there, the gym and field spaces are open to PCR programs, and then to the general public.
School activities, games, practice times are communicated and outlined as accurately as is possible so commissioners and coaches will know what dates and times are available. The school district uses an online Facilities Scheduling calendar to coordinate these efforts. The PCR director has the ability to update this site and coaches have the ability to view available space.
PCR programs are not charged for the use of any school district facility for practices and most games. An exception would be for basketball tournaments. PCR is required to cover the cost of a custodian(s) for all traveling basketball tournaments that PCR hosts.
Since PCR oversees all of the youth programs, there are inherent benefits as to how best to allocate facilities. One of PCR’s directives is to reduce or eliminate the amount of overlap between the sports programs so our youth have the ability to be involved in multiple sports throughout the year. Another directive is to distribute game and practice space as equally as is possible across each program as well as within the programs. In addition, all attempts are made to split facility space evenly amongst the genders.
Partnership with City of Prescott
There are several green spaces that PCR uses that belong to the city. Those sites are used primarily for the Soccer program. The city allows PCR to use these fields at no cost and will mow them as necessary. However, all other upkeep, such as nets and painting lines, is the responsibility of PCR and paid for by PCR.
