Superintendent Search 2024-2025 School Year
The School District of Prescott Board of Education is conducting a superintendent search. In December 2024, Superintendent Dr. Rick Spicuzza announced he would retire at the end of the school year, June 30, 2025 following 10 years of service to the community.

A Day in the District - March 26, 2025
Prescott School District is pleased to announce the selection of three finalists to interview for the position of Superintendent from a strong list of highly-qualified candidates. The Prescott School Board conducted initial interviews last week and narrowed the slate to three finalists: Nicolas Been, James Reif, and Timothy Schigur.
As part of the selection process, the trio of finalists will spend a Day in the District on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The day includes a tour of all four school sites by the building administrator, followed by meetings with district administration, staff and students. During the evening, all community members will have an opportunity to meet the candidates individually from 6:00-6:35 (Schigur), 6:40-7:15 (Reif), and 7:20-7:55 (Been) in the PHS Library.

About the Superintendent Search Process:
The Board of Education is pleased to partner with Hazard, Young, and Attea (HYA), a national consulting firm, in the search for the next superintendent for the Prescott School District. The board plans to select a permanent superintendent on or before the end of the 2024-25 school year to ensure a smooth transition for he/she, staff, students, and the community.
This search starts with posting for the position and planning sessions with HYA. In the coming days, weeks, and months, the group will work to connect with stakeholders and gather information from the community on what Prescott is looking for in our next superintendent.

Anticipated Search Timeline
January 2025
- The HYA Team will meet with the Prescott School Board to plan the search and determine the process, finalize timeline, etc.
- Individual interviews with Board members
February 2025
- Early- Mid February, conduct the following:

- February 28th - Close applications
- Present district leadership with profile reports
- Presentation of slate to Board and interview workshop
Early March
Late March
- Finalists day in the district
- Board conducts final interview(s)
- HYA third party background check
Early April
- Superintendent's hiring approved and announced.

Prescott’s public schools offer broad and rigorous programming to provide options for the district’s 1,250 K-12 student population:
- 100% K-8th Grade STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) participation.
- K-12 Extra-Curricular Options, Community Education, and Community Recreation
Prescott High School’s College and Career Readiness options include:
Advanced Placement Course offerings eligible for college credit. Dual Enrollment Courses enable students to simultaneously earn high school and college credits. Prescott High School has several offerings: Start College Now Program Early College Credit Program (ECCP) allows public high school students who meet certain requirements to take post-secondary courses at an institution of higher education. Students who meet the identified criteria can earn college credits at no cost. Transcripted Courses pairs Prescott High School with area technical colleges. Courses are taught by certified high school teachers and allow participants to earn both high school and college credits - and save students hundreds of dollars in tuition and book fees. Work-Based Learning (WBL) program is coordinated between PHS and employers. WBL provides students the opportunity to study in school and work on the job to gain experience and knowledge in an occupational field. SMALL IN SIZE. BIGGER ON ACHIEVEMENT. Prescott students continue to excel in the classroom when state and national districts’ tests scores are declining. The National Assessment of Educational Progress places Wisconsin in the top tier of all 50 states, and the DPI Annual Report Card places PSD Prescott in the TOP 11% of the state for academic achievement (up from 15% in 2020-21).
