NEWS & INFORMATION

** IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE **

We have had a large increase in the number of students out sick today, roughly 8% of the student body.  The majority of these students have symptoms consistent with Influenza, 14 of which have been diagnosed with Influenza B.  The flu shot this year did not cover the strain of Influenza B that most individuals have been diagnosed with.  Please watch for these symptoms which would indicate Influenza:

  • fever, headache, fatigue/tiredness, runny or stuffy nose, body aches and/or chills, sore throat, cough

If your student has any of these symptoms please keep them home to help decrease the spread of this virus.  When you call your student in sick, please leave a more detailed message including symptoms, any diagnoses and if they have been prescribed any medications.  As a reminder, we do have a 24 hour policy for fevers and illnesses, so please keep your student home until they are feeling better.  Click here to a document from Wi Department of Health Services which provides more information on how the virus is spread and how to prevent it.
